Carmen Tierno is Senior Director of Operations for New Jersey American Water Company with overall responsibility for over 300 individuals providing quality, reliable water and wastewater services across Central New Jersey. His roots in the Long Beach Island region began when he met his wife Kathy and her family who resided in Beach Haven West. Her love for the bay, boating and water skiing was passed along to Carmen and their two children, Emily and Andrew. Carmen’s first connection to the LBI beaches was through Co-Founder Carmen Malatino and “Gramma Beaches” on 21st Street in Ship Bottom where he was introduced to one hell of a crew including Co-Founders David Caldarella and Tim Hall. Carmen now spends his free time in Surf City, NJ. Always active in his community, Carmen was the founder and director of South Jersey’s preeminent 4th of July 5K race, the Marlton Mayor’s Cup, for 10 years. Carmen was also co-founder and longtime director of the New Jersey fundraising arm of international charity, Water for People, raising more than $150,000 annually through an active volunteer committee. Now “retired” from these well-established organizations, Carmen looks forward to focusing his fundraising efforts through David’s Dream & Believe Cancer Foundation.
