My name is Danielle Norcross, I live in Toms River, with my husband and two daughters (17 + 20). The last 3 years have been a challenge to say the least. My father was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer in November 2018. As one of his primary caretakers, I watched him endure countless rounds of chemotherapy and all the challenges that follow. Sadly, in December of 2019, he lost his battle, a month after I was diagnosed with Stage 2B Breast Cancer. November and December of 2019 were a whirlwind! Within 2 weeks of my diagnosis, I was having a bilateral mastectomy followed by 8 rounds of chemo and 6 weeks of radiation. In November of 2020, I had my final surgery.
I was first introduced to David’s Dream & Believe Cancer Foundation through my job as the CEO of the Greater Toms River Chamber of Commerce, however, they quickly became more than just members. When my father was diagnosed David + Dani were immediately on hand to see where they could help. My father was fortunate to receive some of the assistance that DDBCF provides. I was blown away by the services they provided.
With the physical fight behind me, I knew that in order for the emotional healing to begin, I had to give back. I am proud to be a DDBCF patient advocate and look forward to providing as much support, love, and comfort as I received during my journey.
